This series of paintings are about the current threat to the treasured area of land in North Devon called Manning’s Pit.  It is named after a Mr Manning who rented the fields during the second half of the 19 th century.  Ever since (and maybe before) this little stretch of valley just above the village of Pilton has been walked on by local people and visitors.  It is now under threat from development and the paintings and drawings that I am working on now are with this threat in mind.
